Light Oat Bread Recipe

Light Oat Bread Recipe

This simple and tasty bread recipe that makes 2 large loaves of bread. You can hand knead the dough if you want but I use a Bosch Universal Mixer to get the job. You may use store bought whole wheat flour but it may not turn out as well, home milled whole wheat flour is always superior in taste and quality.

Light Oat Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups of Lukewarm Water
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Canola Oil (or Vegetable Oil will work too)
  • 4 tsp. Yeast
  • 3 tsp. Salt
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 1/4 cups Quick Oats
  • 4 cups White Bread Flour (or All-Purpose flour will work too)

Directions:

  1. Combine water, honey, oil, and yeast in mixer bowl and mix on low for about 20 seconds.
  2. Let mixture sit for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add whole wheat flour and quick oats to bowl and mix on low for about 30 seconds
  4. Add salt and 2 cups of white flour to the bowl and mix on low, as the flour incorporates into the dough continue to add the remaining 2 cups of white flour.
  5. After all the flour is incorporated into the dough, set the mixer to medium speed for 8+ minutes.
  6. Turnoff mixer and place a kitchen towel over the mixer bowl and let rise for about an hour (so that the dough doubles in size).
  7. Grease two 9in. x 5in. bread pans with cooking spray and set aside.
  8. Pour some cooking oil on you clean counter top and spread it out with your hands.
  9. Pour dough out on the oiled counter top and cut into 2 equal pieces.
  10. Shape each piece of dough and place into a greased bread pan.
  11. Let rise in bread pan for about 45 minutes.
  12. Pre-heat oven to 350° about 20 minutes before dough has finished rising.
  13. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes.
  14. Remove from oven and dump dough out of bread pan onto a cooling rack.
  15. It is best to let the bread cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

I adjusted this recipe to my linking from another recipe, I got the original recipe from the Tasty Kitchen (a wonderful recipe sharing site).
